Visual Explanation

pratt industrial design graduate program, 1st year
While I was at Pratt I got interested in methods of describing and explaining in visual terms. I was fascinated by Edward Tufte and his ideas about displaying information. This graph was modeled after a visual diary created by cosmonaut Georgi Grechko. It is a picture of how I spent my time during my second semester of graduate school.

Collection of results from Sustainable Minds
At Erika Hanson Design we experimented with a software tool for analyzing the environmental impacts of manufacturing. Erika Hanson was interested in developing sustainable interior finishes, so we focused on what the Sustainable Minds software could tell us about decorative finishes.

Environmental Costs of Cigarette Manufacturing
This was an illustration I made for erika doering Design. Erika is a professor at Pratt and asked me to make some visual explanation examples for her Sustainable Production Methods class. The assignment was to examine the environmental impacts of a product you love. We chose cigarettes for this example.

Environmental Impacts Presentation
This was part of a presentation I made during my Sustainable Production Methods class at Pratt. In this slide I used my 3D model to break out the materials used in the product I chose to analyze. I continued by investigating the impacts associated with each of them, with a focus on aluminum.
